Netflix Pick: "Fashion"

Okay, let me first start off by saying that I did not think that this movie would be all  that and a bag of chips. This movie was recommended to be by Netflix because I watch so much Bollywood. I thought it would be some overacted, over- ''musical-lized'' plot....but it wasn't. If you don't know me, one thing you must learn is that I love the sacred art of fashion. That is something I don't fool around with. So, if someone is going to put out a fashion movie, they'd better bring it.

"Fashion" was about an aspiring model named Meghna, who wanted to follow her dreams of making it big in the fashion capital of Mumbai. Along the way, she sees the good, bad, and ugly that life in the limelight brings. "Fashion" reminded me of "The Devil Wears Prada" from a model's point of view. The movie even stepped out of the traditional Indian way of making movies (being modest) by showcasing homosexuality, premarital affairs, and showing large amounts of skin. That is a great step towards showing what is really happening in everyday life. Indian cinema is KNOWN for censoring movies that they don't think is modest enough (Karma Sutra: A Tale of Love, anyone?). They wouldn't even allow kissing on the lips!

But check it out if you have Netflix.....you will enjoy it.
