What I Learned from Disney's "The Fox And The Hound"...
Yesterday, I was in the mood to watch a classic Disney movie. So, I go on Netflix and find "The Fox and The Hound". I had never seen the movie, but what the hell right? For those who hadn't seen the movie, the story is about a fox and hound that were childhood friends and innocent to the fact that they were supposed to be enemies. So the hound's owner takes him on a lengthy hunting excursion to ''teach'' him how to be a proper hunting dog (which means kill anything with fur). When the hound comes back, the fox tries to befriend him again. Although the hound likes the fox, he tells him that because of who he was, they couldn't be friends anymore and warns him to stay away......
Sounds familiar?
I believe that The Fox and The Hound discreetly alluded to the prejudice in society today. Young children do not distinguish their peers. The only thing they know is that they are friends, regardless of color, creed, sex, etc. It is the child's environment that ''teaches'' them to distinguish and classify. The end result is a prejudice opinion. Disney really did a wonderful job with this movie. Check it out if you haven't seen it.
Below is the trailer for The Fox and The Hound.....
